What Is Pull Apart Bread?

Pull apart bread is literally bread that easily pulls apart into bite sized pieces. Many call it “monkey bread”, although it’s more widely known as a sweet breakfast bread as opposed to something savory. This version delivers so much garlicky and cheesy goodness!

Ingredients for Cheesy Meatball Pull Apart Bread

  • Premade biscuit dough: the kind you buy in a tube!
  • Herby butter: simply melted butter and a collection of dried herbs, the biscuit dough is rolled in this mixture before being layered in the pan to bake.
  • Frozen meatballs: Simek’s Italian Meatballs are absolutely scrumptious and are already appropriately flavored with Italian herbs.
  • Fresh mozzarella cheese: I like using cilligene, which are small round balls of mozzarella cheese
  • Shredded mozzarella and parmesan cheese: using both adds extra flavor and results in that classic cheese pull
  • Marinara sauce: the perfect dipping sauce!

How To Make Cheesy Meatball Pull Apart Bread

  1. Remove the biscuit dough from the tubes. Use kitchen shears to cut each biscuit into quarters. Set aside.
  2. Melt the better and add the garlic powder, oregano, basil, rosemary, thyme, and salt. Mix to combine.
  3. Dip each piece of biscuit dough into the herbed butter, layering on the bottom of a bundt pan. Once there is a single layer of the biscuits on the bottom of the pan, add a layer of Simek’s meatballs. Next add mozzarella balls, more biscuits, and shredded cheese, alternating layers until all ingredients are gone.
  4. Add the pan to a baking sheet and bake for 60 minutes, until top is golden brown.
  5. After the pan has slightly cooled, invert it on a plate, allowing the bread to release on to the plate. Serve the bread with warm marinara for dipping!
