Ingredients

  • 12 oz chocolate chips or chunks, select your favorite between white, milk, or dark
  • 1/3 cup heavy cream
  • 1 Tbsp liqueur of choosing, such as Amaretto, Bailey's, Kaluha, or Peppermint Schnapps (see note for non-alcoholic version)
  • 1/2-1 cup desired topping, such as shredded coconut, crushed pecans, almonds, walnut, pistachios, or cocoa powder

Instructions

  • In a medium glass bowl, add chocolate.
  • Heat cream in microwave or on stovetop. You want it to be just simmering, as it will be melting the chocolate. Pour over chocolate chips, allowing to sit for 1 minute. Use a spatula to stir the mixture until chocolate is completely melted.
  • Add liqueur and stir until combined. Allow to cool slightly, then cover with either a plate or plastic wrap. Transfer to refrigerator for 2 hours.
  • Using a small spoon, scoop mixture and roll in to balls (you can opt to use disposable gloves to keep things extra sanitary if you're giving these as a gift!).
  • Roll in desired topping, transferring to a wax paper lined plate or baking sheet. Chill until firm.

Notes

  • If you'd like to keep these truffles alcohol free, you can substitute 1 tablespoon of milk in place of the liqueur.
  • Alternatively, if you're wanting to use a food-grade essential oil or extract, still use the 1 tablespoon of milk.
  • If you're using a food-grade essential oil, I would start with 1-2 drops depending on the potency of the oil. It should be plenty!
  • If you're using an extract, use 1/2 teaspoon.
