Healthy Ginger Pear Crumble

This Healthy Ginger Pear Crumble is a lightened up version of a favorite Fall dessert! Oats, nuts, and coconut serve as the base for the spiced maple crumble that tops the sweet and spicy pear mixture. Baked to perfection, this dessert recipe would be a fantastic addition to your holiday table!

Ingredients

For the filling:

  • 5 cups thinly sliced pears See Notes
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 2 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp nutmeg
  • 1 tsp freshly grated ginger
  • 1 tsp vanilla

For the crumble topping:

  • 1/2 cup oats
  • 1/2 cups pecans
  • 1/2 cup flaked coconut
  • 1/4 cup almonds,
  • 1/4 cup Coconut Oil
  • 2 Tbsp maple syrup
  • 1 tsp cinnamon
  • 1/4 tsp ginger powder
  • 1/8 tsp nutmeg
  • Pinch salt

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 350 degrees.
  • Prep your pears. Wash and peel if you choose (see note below). Thinly slice pears and add to a large bowl. Add maple syrup, cinnamon, nutmeg, fresh ginger, and vanilla. Toss thoroughly to combine.
  • Add pears to a 9 inch baking dish sprayed with coconut oil.
  • Add all crumble ingredients to food processor and pulse until combined.
  • Top pears with crumble. Bake for 45 -50 minutes until fragrant and bubbly. Allow to cool slightly, and serve.

Notes

  • I used Bartlett pears for this recipe, which were delicious! Use your favorite variety.
  • I chose to leave my pears unpeeled. The skins add a different texture which I love! feel free to peel your pears if you prefer!
