Healthy Ginger Pear Crumble

This Healthy Ginger Pear Crumble is a lightened up version of a favorite Fall dessert! Oats, nuts, and coconut serve as the base for the spiced maple crumble that tops the sweet and spicy pear mixture. Baked to perfection, this dessert recipe would be a fantastic addition to your holiday table!

This time of year, I’m looking to hunker down, wear socks to bed, drink red wine far too often then I should, and eat ALL THE COMFORT FOOD.

You with me?

And “just like that”, I’m suddenly in a 10 pound gain fog of disbelief. Or rather, a black out of sorts.

“How on earth did this happen? I ate so good this holiday season!”

…says the girl who’s eaten a charcuterie platter for dinner at least twice per week for the past month. This year though, I mean business.

Now, don’t get me wrong: I will still be eating charcuterie for dinner this season. It may not be two times per week, but you can guarantee I’ll be putting back the brie.

In moderation, folks.

See, while I may be craving all the sweets, all the cheese, all the carbs, and ALL the cocktails, I can still indulge smartly. Sure, I’ll start with monitoring the quantity of food I’m eating (in a season known for gluttony), but I’ll also make smart swaps and ingredient substitutions where I can.

Exhibit A: This Healthy Ginger Pear Crumble.

Amongst the list of classic flavor pairings, I propose we add this one to the lineup. Pear and ginger were meant to go together, just as strawberry and banana, pineapple and coconut, or cinnamon and apple. The pear is earthy, juicy, and slightly sweet, while the ginger is spicy, sharp, and warm. They complement each other perfectly… Especially when baked into warm, bubbly, delicious oblivion, and topped with a lightened up crumb topping.
I mean can you even?!

This lighter recipe includes all your favorite parts of a warm, spicy, intoxicating fall dessert: comforting spices like cinnamon, nutmeg, and clove, warm baked fruit, and a crumbly crunchy topping.

Similar to an apple crisp, the pears bake down in to a syrupy spoonable mixture. The practically melt under the protection of this crunchy, nutty, and delectable topping! Using oats, pecans, and coconut, this topping cuts out some of the calorie “fillers“ you normally see in a traditional recipe, such as butter, sugar, and flour.
It’s all mixed together with some melted coconut oil (just enough to bind it!), and tops the sliced pears, freshly grated ginger, and spices.
In to the oven we go!
If ever there were a recipe that I wish I could virtually send you the smell of… It would be this one! I’d love to know what you think if you try it!
