Ingredients

  • 1 lb spicy Italian sausage, cooked and slightly cooled
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 3/4 cup chopped pepperoncini peppers
  • 1 Tbsp Calabrian chili paste
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • Chopped Basil, to garnish
  • Crostini, to serve

Instructions

  • Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
  • Cook the Italian sausage in a sauté pan, breaking it up in to bit sized pieces. One nearly cooked through (it's ok if there are some uncooked pieces since this will continue cooking in the oven), use a slotted spoon to remove the sausage to a medium bowl.
  • Add the onion and garlic to the grease left behind from the sausage. Saute until fragrant and onion is translucent .
  • In a large bowl, combine cream cheese and sour cream. Use a hand mixer to completely mix together. Add pepperoncini, Calabrian chili paste, Italian seasoning, 3/4 cup parmesan and 1 cup mozzarella. Mix to combine. Add Italian sausage, using a spatula to combine entirely.
  • Transfer to a baking dish and top with remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese.
  • Bake for 20 minutes or until dip is bubbly and smells delicious. Garnish with chopped basil and serve with crostini.
