A roundup of appetizer, snack, and drink recipes to celebrate the Super Bowl! These Super Bowl recipes range from spicy & sweet to boozy & cool, and will not disappoint. They’re primarily simple and healthy, but also include a few indulgent options, too. It’s time to party!
IT’S THE SUPER BOWL.
And guess what?! IT’S IN MY BACKYARD! Well, figuratively anyway.
The spotlight is on Minneapolis, and I couldn’t be more proud. Minnesota is an amazing place, despite my sarcastic comments about the weather. Truthfully, I love it here.
- The people.
- The nature.
- The community.
- The lakes (there’s actually way more than 10,000, btw).
- The “ya-sure-you-betcha” jokes.
- And yes, even the weather.
I truly believe there is no other place like this beautiful state I get to call home!
Oh, and did I mention that us Minnesotans reallyyyyy know how to eat, drink, and be merry? For reals.
A few “Minnesota Classics” are included in this roundup of snacks, apps, cocktails, and dishes to enjoy on game day. Or any day, really.
What’s your favorite crowd-pleasing appetizer? Comment below and let me know!
Arguably THE dish Minnesotans are known for. This version gets a healthy-dish makeover, including a homemade cream soup (not made with cream or condensed soup!). I mean, this thing is topped with TATER TOTS. Try it now.
Sure, sure. I know this dip goes by many names. And I’ll admit that we don’t call it this in my house. But I will also admit that I make a triple batch every time, and there are NEVER leftovers.
3. Buffalo Cauliflower with Cilantro Jalapeño Ranch Dipping Sauce
One of the first recipes I posted on my blog! And honestly, probably one of my (and my girlfriends’) faves. A vegetarian-friendly option for “wings”, though you could fool any meat-eater with these. Oh, and that Cilantro Jalapeño Ranch?! SINFUL.
4. Bloody Marys
I know, I know. A bloody isn’t THAT hard to whip up. But this recipe is for the Bloody base….the VODKA base. Seasoned perfectly with horseradish, peppercorns, tabasco, and all the other ingredients that make a Bloody Mary its best.
5. Surly Hell BBQ Chicken Meatballs
Football = MEATBALLS. These get a healthy slathering of a Surly Hell spiked homemade BBQ sauce, which is essentially liquid crack. Seriously. PUT. THIS. ON. EVERYTHING.
6. Greek Hummus and Tzatziki Sauce with Baked Fries
Another original recipe, from when I first started my blog! These oven-baked fries have a couple extra steps – but it is SO worth it. You’ll be shocked these weren’t fried! These fries are part of my recipe for Greek Hummus with Tzatziki Sauce – seriously one of my FAVORITES. (There are PICKLES on it).
7. Roasted Shrimp Cocktail with Chimmichurri and Cocktail Sauce
The ONE AND ONLY WAY to enjoy shrimp cocktail. These shrimp are perfectly cooked, garlicky, spicy, and so simple. Served with the classic cocktail sauce or else my favorite sauce to always have on hand: chimichurri.
8. Daiquiris
Lime Juice. Rum. Simple Syrup. (sneaks in extra splash of rum)
Any questions?
You can’t watch football without CHILI! This version is light, spicy, and so freaking good. I love serving with tortilla chips to crush as a topper, or to use as a spoon. Try it!
“Oooohhh…. you’re so fancy!”, your guests will say. They don’t need to know that these took you 5 minutes and a handful of ingredients to throw together. I won’t tell if you don’t.
11. Pineapple Jalapeno Margaritas
When I make these, I plan on having a PARTY. They’re sweet, tart, boozy AF, and spicy. They can also be scaled so you can make a big ass batch of ’em. These are so good!
12. Chipotle and Rosemary Roasted Nuts
Parties – especially Super Bowl parties – require a small little snack on every surface. These lightly candied mixed nuts get a “little something” with chipotle powder and fresh rosemary. You’ll begged for the recipe, guaranteed.
The first thing to be devoured on your spread. This Mac and cheese recipe is unreal! It’s finished in the oven, meaning you can prep it before guests arrive, and forget about until you’re ready to serve. So gooey. So cheesy. So delicious.
14. Homemade Pizza
My recipe for homemade pizza dough is super simple. Sure there’s some kneading, some extra time, but there’s also bragging rights that come with making your own damn pizza crust. So beat that. This recipe specifically includes fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, and arugula, but use what you love! If you’re a mushroom lover, you HAVE to try this one….
A twist on the cult-favorite cheeseburger, featured on multiple travel and food networks. These meatballs are stuffed with cheese (!!!!!), and served with a tangy homemade BBQ sauce, or straight up ketchup.
16. Baked Plantain Chips with Spicy Guacamole
Every single person that I’ve made these plantain chips for ask, “Do you have any more?”. Holy PLANTAINS are these good. And they’re baked! And served with an epic guacamole! What are you waiting for!?
17. Antipasto Skewers with Pesto Dipping Sauce
Skewers = party food. These little Italian studs include all the fresh, carby, salty, creamy goodness you would expect from an Antipasto Platter. Conveniently “on a stick”!
Talk about impressive. These freaking pretzels. I just can’t. I serve these with a variety of mustards, but a queso would obviously be extra….EXTRA. You will not be disappointed with these – neither will your guests!
Explanation needed? I think not. All your favorite cheeses and accoutrements in one place. Done & Done!
Fresh, light, and easy to down a few if you’re team isn’t winning.
Chips and salsa are REQUIRED at any gathering. Period. This version includes 4 ingredients and is a showstopper. Fresh mango, red onion, cilantro, and lime juice. So fresh. So addicting. Never enough (I would triple this batch if I were you!).
This dip’s base is hummus, making I super scoopable. It gets topped with tabbouleh the uses quinoa in place of bulgur – making it familiar, fresh, and healthy. Serve with fresh veggies and pita chips!
23. Lox Platter
I mean, let’s pull out the stops, am I right?! This homemade lox is so easy! A few ingredients, and a few days (plan accordingly!). The goat cheese schmear would be delicious eaten straight with a spoon (I’LL ADMIT NOTHING!), but be a decent human being and use it as a spread, yeah?
Mouth watering. I’m coming to your house for the Bowl 👊🏼👏🏼👏🏼👏🏼
I’ll get the cocktails started now….
