Undoubtedly, you’ve seen this green smoothie “craze”. Whether it’s in your Insta feed, on Pinterest, or clutched by your favorite celeb out running errands, green smoothies are definitely a “thing”.
And with good reason! Smoothies are a nutritious and easy way to get in a well-rounded meal full of vitamins and minerals – especially if you’re on the go. By adding leafy greens (yes, leafy greens!) to your smoothie, you’re getting an extra dose of those essential vitamins your body needs. I mean, how many times do we have to be told that kale is good for us?! Adding these delicious veggies to your smoothie allows you to eat your greens in a new way.
What’s In a Green Smoothie?
As mentioned above, the trick is in the greens. Feel free to use whichever leafy greens are your favorite! There are a number of options:
- Romaine
- Kale
- Spinach
- Chard
You get get really wild and throw some arugula in there…but I have a feeling you won’t be too pleased. I’ll try anything once, but that just sounds a bite too…vegetal.

A Simple Green Smoothie
Ingredients
- 1/4 cup frozen spinach
- 1/3 cup frozen mango
- 1/2 banana, sliced in to coins and frozen
- 1/2 tsp chia seeds
- 3/4 cup coconut water
Instructions
- Add all ingredients to blender and process until smooth. Adjust amount of liquid if you prefer a different consistency smoothie.
