- 1/4 cup water
- 2 Tbsp finely chopped ginger
For the martini:
- 1 tsp cumin seeds, lightly toasted in dry saute pan
- 1/2 cup firmly packed mint leaves
- 2 fresh serrano peppers, chopped
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 1/4 cup fresh lime juice
- 1 cup vodka
Instructions
For the ginger syrup:
- Combine sugar and water in a small saucepan set over muedium heat. Swirl to combine until sugar is dissolved. Add chopped ginger, allowig to steep as the syrup cools. Tranfer to a glass jar and transfer to the regrigerator to fully chill. You can choose to strain the ginger out now, or allow it to continue to steep as it cools in the refrigerator. This will yield deeper ginger flavor.
For the martini:
- If you have a large enough cocktail shaker, feel free to make 4 drinks at once. Otherwise, divide the ingredients in to fourths to make one.
- In a cocktail shaker, add cumin seeds, mint, serrano peppers, and salt. Muddle to release juice.
- Add ginger syrup, lime juice, and vodka. Top with ice. Shake until thoroughly chilled and combined.
- Strain in to 4 chilled martini glasses.
