This Sheet Pan Chicken Shawarma is a weeknight hero! Chicken is marinated in a spiced greek yogurt and backed to juicy perfection. Serve it in warm pita bread with lettuce, tomatoes, pickles, and garlic sauce.

Who doesn’t love a sheet pan meal?! This sheet pan chicken Shawarma is so simple to make, and even easier to devour. Pieces of chicken are coded in a Greek yogurt, spiced marinade, and baked to perfection. Serve it with some warm pita, garlic sauce, and hummus, shredded lettuce, sliced tomatoes, and pickles for the most delicious handheld meal!

What is Shawarma?
Shawarma is a dish with origins in the Middle East that consists of layers of marinated meat, traditionally cooked on a spit. It cooks slowly, yielding delicious spiced results. It’s commonly served in a pita along with vegetables, pickles, and a variety of sauces. It’s very similar to gyro meat, which is a Greek dish consisting typically of beef, lamb, or pork. The difference between the two lies in the spices used to flavor the meat, and how the end result is served.

Ingredients
- Boneless, skinless chicken breast (chicken thighs would be great in this, too!)
- Greek yogurt
- Olive Oil
- Lemon juice
- Garlic
- Salt
- Cumin
- Paprika
- Cinnamon
- Cardamom

How To Make A Shawarma
- Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
- Combine all ingredients for the chicken marinade in a large bowl and stir to combine. Add chicken and toss to coat.
- Transfer to a sheet pan sprayed with cooking oil. Bake for about 20 minutes, or until chicken is cooked through. Feel feel to broil for the last few minutes, to get a char on the meat.
- Meanwhile, prepare ingredients for serving. Arrange everything on a platter for everyone to serve themselves. Top pitas with garlic sauce and/or hummus, lettuce, sliced tomatoes, pickles and the chicken shawarma.

- 5.3 oz container greek yogurt
- 2 Tbsp olive oil
- 1 Tbsp fresh lemon juice
- 4 cloves garlic, minced, grated, or pressed
- 2 tsp salt
- 2 tsp cumin
- 1 tsp paprika
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/2 tsp cardamom
To Serve:
- Pita bread
- Shredded lettuce
- Sliced tomatoes
- Lots of pickles
- Garlic sauce (I used the brand Toom)
- Hummus
- Variety of olives
