How To Make Slow Cooker Shredded Turkey
I’ll admit that I’m a little embarrassed to even posting this recipe. I hope no one takes offense to that, but this recipe is so silly simple, I can hardly call it a “recipe“.
This shredded turkey literally could not be any easier! The slow cooker does all the work for you, yielding juicy and tender shredded turkey which cooks away as you’re doing…well, anything else! Here’s how to make it.
Ingredients
- Frozen Turkey breast, thawed
- Garlic powder
- Onion powder
- Salt
- Pepper
- Prepared horseradish
- Mayonnaise
- Brioche buns
If you can find a boneless turkey breast, feel free to use that! I’ve found that the grocery stores I shop at typically will have a frozen bone in turkey breast, which helps retain moisture and combats dryness.
The Method
OK… Are we ready for this?! Here’s how to make this super simple recipe:
- Place turkey breast in slow cooker
- Sprinkle with spices in the recipe, but don’t stop there! If you have other spices you’d like to add, or sliced onion and garlic, feel free!
- Set the slow cooker on low for eight hours. Walk away and go about your day!
- After eight hours, remove the lid of your slow cooker, and shred the meat away from the bone. There might be residual liquid in the bottom, feel free to remove some of this, but not all! This offers wonderful juiciness to the shredded turkey.
- Combine the prepared horseradish and mayonnaise. Slather it on your brioche bun. Top with shredded turkey, add pickles or sliced onions if you dare, and enjoy!
