These Stuffed Mushrooms are simple and absolutely delicious! The mushrooms stems are chopped and sautéed with garlic, herbs, and breadcrumbs for a savory stuffing.
Stuffed Mushrooms: A Family Favorite
As a child, some of my fondest memories from the holidays can be traced to Christmas Eve. My immediate family would celebrate with either a special supper or an immaculate appetizer spread. As we’ve grown older, each family has started to contribute their favorite appetizer, but one hors d’oeuvre is always on the menu: these Stuffed Mushrooms.
This recipe is simple and scrumptious, and always brings me back to festive memories.
How To Make Stuffed Mushrooms
These little delights are far from difficult to prepare. A savory stuffing is made with the stems from the mushroom caps, which are chopped finely. They’re combined with aromatics like onion, garlic, and parsley and mixed with crunchy breadcrumbs and salty parmesan cheese. The mixture is stuffed in to each mushroom cap, and more times than not, there’s leftover stuffing that is sprinkled on top of the whole platter before going in to the oven.
These mushrooms fill your home with a cozy, mouthwatering aroma which is only a tantalizing indication of what’s to come.

- 1/2 cup butter
- 1/2 cup yellow onion, chopped finely
- 1/2 tsp salt
- 5 Tbsp parlsey, chopped
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/4 cup parmesan cheese
- 1 1/4 cup panko bread crumbs
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400 degrees.
- Using a damp paper towel, gently clean mushrooms, removing dirt. Remove stems, and arrange mushroom caps cavity-side up in baking dish or pie plate. Mince stems, set aside.
- In a large saute pan, melt butter and add minced stems, chopped onion, and salt. Saute until fragrant, about 5 minutes.
- Add parsely, garlic, and parmesan cheese. Saute until cheese has melted.
- Add panko, stirring util combined. Remove from heat and allow to slightly cool.
- Use a spoon to stuff each mushroom cap with the mixture. Bake for 20 minutes. Broil on high for 2 minutes, or until top is lightly browned (you may be able to skip this step if your mushrooms were browned enough after baking for 20 minutes).
- Garnish with additional chopped parlsey and serve warm.
