The time of year when our hearts are filled with passion, energy, and hope, but yet we’re left house-bound, exhausted (the sun sets WHEN?!), and dressed in so many layers it’s actually the antonym of anything remotely provocative.
But hold on just one second. Why can’t the second month of the year still elicit a sense of excitement? Of fun? OF COCKTAILS?
Albeit, “healthy” cocktails! That’s right.

Switchel is a refreshing and crisp elixir that some view as an alternative to sugary energy drinks. It’s made using apple cider vinegar, natural sweetener, and diluted with water. It’s slightly carbonated, reminiscent to kombucha. I absolutely L-O-V-E it.
And you will too, whether you choose to make this cocktail or sip it on its own. Personally, Superior Switchel, a Minnesota-based, woman operated business who contributes part of their proceeds to the Great Lakes and waterways.

As previously mentioned, I used Superior Switche’s Honey Cinnamon Kick flavor which is absolutely FAB. It goes perfectly with the sweet smokiness from the bourbon, and the sweet hit from the pomegranate juice.
Light and refreshing, this cocktail is one to sip on with your sweetie.

Bourbon Cinnamon Switchel
Ingredients
- 1 oz bourbon
- 1/2 oz pomegranate juice
- 3 oz Honey Cinnamon Kick Superior Switchel
- Pomegranate arils, for serving
- Cinnamon sticks, for serving
Instructions
- In an ice filled cocktail shaker, combine bourbon and pomegranate juice. Shake thoroughly.
- Pour in to an ice filled rocks glass, top with switchel. Add pomegranate arils and cinnamon stick. Serve ice cold.
