How To Make Blondies
Blondies are brownies cute little sister. They don’t include chocolate, and I reminiscent of a cookie bar. For this recipe, I used the bass recipe from my pumpkin brown butter Blondie recipe. They are so good, you have to try them!
The Ingredients
- Flour
- Baking soda
- Salt
- Butter
- Eggs
- Brown sugar
- Sugar
- Vanilla extract
- Chopped chocolate candybars (an assortment of miniatures is perfect!)
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease an 8×8 baking pan.
- In a medium bowl, combine flour, baking soda, and salt.
- In a separate bowl combine butter, eggs, brown sugar, sugar, and vanilla. Use a handmixer to completely combine.
- Add flour in 3 batches, scraping the side of the bowl after each addition. Once all of the flour is combined, use a spatula to fold in ¾ cup of the chopped up candy bars.
- Transfer batter to prepared baking pan.
- Bake for 40 minutes, or until a toothpick inserted into the center of the pan comes out clean.
- Top bars with remaining ¼ cup of chopped candy bars.
- Allow to cool before slicing into squares and devouring!
How To Elevate Candy Bar Blondies
As previously mentioned, the base for this recipe started with my pumpkin brown butter Blondie recipe. A delicious and easy way to elevate the flavor in these tasty cookie bars is to brown the butter!
To do this, all you have to do is add your butter to a sauce pan set over medium heat. Allow it to melt, swirling the pan every so often. The butter will foam, and once that starts to dissipate, you’ll notice golden brown flex on the bottom of the pan. Let it go about 30 seconds more, or before those golden vets look too dark! You don’t want to burn the butter, you’re slightly toasting the milk solids, which provides delicious nutty flavor. Another good indication that your butter is perfectly browned is the smell! The aroma will be rich and toasted. Immediately pour this brown butter into a chilled bowl and allow it to resolidify to make these brownies!
