This Crab Dip is cool, creamy, and addicting. It’s super simple to make and even easier to devour! It includes a handful of simple ingredients and is a party-pleaser.
There are some snacks that remind us of a simpler time: not checking our phone every five minutes, sitting in the sunshine with a cold drink, and of pure relaxation.
Crab Dip is what reminds me of all these things! It’s always the appetizer that’s purchased from the fish shop on our way up to the cabin, to be devoured during a happy hour on the deck or the boat. Having spent more money than I care to share on this nostalgic dip, I set out to make my own!

What Is Crab Dip?
Before we get started, let’s clear up one thing: there is no crab and crab dip. I know, I know. How deceiving! But if I’m being honest, the decadence and richness that comes from this dip by way of pure mayonnaise (don’t say I said this was a health food!), you wouldn’t want to use real crab anyway!
The main ingredient in this dip is surimi crab, otherwise known as imitation crab. It’s typically made from dense white fish such as pollock, and shaped into the form of crab meat. It’s mixed with mayonnaise, green onion, celery, and shredded cheese. That’s it! It’s wildly simple and sinfully delicious. Don’t forget the Ritz crackers: it really is the only way to eat it, in my opinion.

Deb, how’d you like it? Should I go for real crab or will this get the job done?
