Homemade Baileys Irish Cream
Not much beats a homemade gift. Especially edible homemade gifts! It’s such a thoughtful gesture to make a gift for someone that you know they’ll love! Baileys Irish Cream is an indulgent treat that’s commonly enjoyed during the winter holiday season, or around St. Patrick’s Day. Of course, it’s enjoyed your round by many, but I find myself reaching for it during these two times of the year! Making a homemade version couldn’t be easier, and only requires six ingredients. Technically five if you want to make a nonalcoholic version! Read on to learn how to make this delicious holiday gift or sweets to keep for yourself!
Ingredients for Homemade Baileys Irish Cream
Making Homemade Baileys is so simple, you might not reach for the store-bought version again! You’ll need just 6 ingredients ingredients:
- Heavy cream
- Sweetened condensed milk
- Cocoa powder
- Espresso powder
- Vanilla extra
- Almond extract
- Irish whiskey (you obviously can omit this if you want a cream or nonalcoholic version!)
How To Make Homemade Baileys Irish Cream
Making homemade Baileys really requires just two steps:
- Make the cocoa espresso sauce: combine cocoa powder and espresso powder (in the coffee aisle at most grocers, or can be found online), with hot water, creating a rich sauce.
- Blend everything together! Next is the easy part: combine everything in a blender and process until fully combined! That’s it!

Homemade Baileys Irish Cream
Equipment
- High Powered Blender
- Lidded glass bottles or jars
Ingredients
- 2 Tbsp cocoa powder
- 2 tsp instant espresso
- 1 cup cream
- 14 oz can sweetened condensed milk
- 1 tsp vanilla extract
- 1 tsp almond extract
- 1 1/2 cups Irish whiskey optional
Instructions
- Combine the cocoa powder and espresso powder in a small bowl with 2 tablespoons of hot water. Whisk to combine until a smooth sauce is formed.
- Add this mixture to a blender along with the remaining ingredients. If you plan to omit the Irish whiskey and make this non-alcoholic, note that the amount that the recipe will yield will be less, and also the texture will be much thicker.
- Blend until fully combined. Decant into as glass bottle or several smaller bottles for gifts. Keep refrigerated for up to 2 weeks.
What size are the gift bottles you used?
Hi Yvonne! I used 8 oz bottles, which you can find here!
In your Irish Cream recipe you note 1 tsp almond???? Do you mean almond extract?? Also mentioned vanilla which I assumed vanilla extract.
Yes! This is vanilla and almond extract. Thanks for calling this out – I’ve updated the recipe to reflect that more clearly! Enjoy!
