The summery flavors of this Peach Sun Tea are just what you need! Read on to learn more about how to make those sinfully simple summer sip.
What Is Sun Tea?
Sun tea is simply tea that is made using the heat of the sun! Where tea is typically made by steeping tea leaves or teabags in boiling water, this method uses the heat of the sun to heat the water as the teabags steep! The warmth of the sun softens the tea leaves, releasing their flavor. Can you think of a more summery beverage?
How To Make Peach Sun Tea
- Fill a large pitcher or beverage dispenser with water. The general rule of thumb is to use between eight to ten tea bags per gallon of water.
- Add your tea bags to the water, removing any paper sticker from the string.
- Set out in the sun to steep for 2 to 3 hours, stirring sporadically to release the flavor.
- Next, prepare your peach simple syrup. Combine equal parts water and sugar in a medium sauce pan set over medium heat.
- Swirl the pan every so often until the sugar dissolves.
- Remove from the heat, and add roughly chopped peaches. Cover the pan, allowing it to cool as the tea is brewing in the sun.
- When the tea is ready, remove tea bags from the pitcher.
- Strain peaches from simple syrup and pour syrup into the picture of tea.
- Stir to combine, add ice and serve!

Peach Sun Tea
Ingredients
- 2 gallons water
- 16 black tea bags, string and tag removed, keeping bag intact
For the peach simple syrup:
- 1 1/2 cups sugar
- 2 cups water
- 2-3 large peaches, pits removed and roughly chopped
To Serve:
- Fresh mint
Instructions
- Fill large beverage dispenser with 2 gallons of water. If your vessel is smaller, simply adjust the amount of tea bags you add to the water.
- Add tea bags to water and cover. Allow tea to sit in the sun for at least 2 hours, which will allow the tea to steep and the flavors to release. Sample to determine if more time is needed for the tea to steep. Once ready, remove the tea bags from the container.
For the peach simple syrup:
- As the tea steeps, prepare the peach simple syrup. Combine sugar and water in a medium saucepan set over medium heat. Swirl the pan every so often until the sugar dissolves. Remove from heat.
- Add roughly chopped peaches. They don't need to be finely chopped: they will simply infuse the syrup and then be discarded (or else they would be delicious spooned over ice cream!). Allow the syrup to steep, covering and allowing it to cool at room temperature.
- When tea is ready, strain peaches from simple syrup and pour liquid into tea. Stir to combine, add ice, and serve! Fresh mint and peach slices are perfect garnishes!
