This Pineapple Cheese Ball is one of my all-time favorite holiday appetizers! Pineapple adds sweetness and green onion adds bite. The perfect cheeseball!
Nostalgia In Dip Form
This creamy Pineapple Cheeseball reminds me of home. Consistently an appetizer that graced our holiday table, this mouthwatering spread quickly becomes a favorite after everyone’s first bite. Sure, at first place the ingredients seem like an interesting combination. But once you try it, you’ll understand why this scrumptious spread is a must make during the holidays in my family.
What's In A Pineapple Cheeseball?
This cheeseball includes just a handful of simple ingredients that transform in to an incredibly addictive spread.
Cream Cheese
Shredded Pineapple
Green Onion
Green Pepper
Aminos (i.e. soy sauce)
The combination of these ingredients yields an oniony, sweet, and creamy spread that gets a light brunch from a nut coating. My mom always uses crushed pecans on her Pineapple Cheese Ball, but this year I wanted to transform this humble dip in to something to display.
Decorating A Pineapple Cheeseball Pinecone
Turning a cheeseball in a pinecone may look complicated, but all it really takes is a little extra time!
First, shape the cheeseball in to an oval-like form. Then, using sliced almonds, arrange the nuts in lines down the center of the “pinecone”, starting at one end and keeping the almonds moving in the same direction. Pop it back in the refrigerator for a quick chill, and there you have it! A delectable cheese spread worthy of a photo.

In a medium bowl combine cream cheese, pineapple, green onion, green pepper, and soy sauce.
Form mixture in to an ovel shape on a plate, cover with plastic. Allow to chill at least two hours.
Once chilled, unwrap plastic. Arrange slivered almonds starting at one end and moving in a line to the opposite end, resembling a pinecone. Serve with crackers and vegetables.
Hello, can you tell me if you use the white and green parts of the green onion?
I’m not clear on the placement of the slivered almonds, do they go in rows left to right or columns top to bottom?
Hi Chrys! I use a little bit of the white – no need to get rid of that 🙂 As for the almonds, I typically will do them in columns: I find that it’s easier to get the “pinecone” look that way. I hope you enjoy!
Love the Pineapple cheese ball but way too much green onion. I’d cut in half. Plus when it chills to firm up the onion flavor is even more enhanced. I will definitely make this easy recipe again with less onion.
Glad you liked it, and love the suggested edit for a less pronounced onion flavor!
