The most tender and flavorful roasted salmon! This recipe features a gorgeous salmon filet slathered in a herby Green Goddess Sauce. It’s simple, stunning, and absolutely delicious.
I originally made this gorgeous salmon dish while in Cordova, Alaska where I got to learn all about Copper River Salmon. What an experience! I share details about my trip in this post, where I also share some additional stunning photos of our Alaskan picnic where this dish was featured. Be sure to check it out!
What is Green Goddess Sauce?
Green Goddess dressing has origins in San Francisco, where it was created in the 1920’s. The classic recipe features mayonnaise, sour cream, anchovies, lemon, and a suite of fresh herbs. Some may say there is a “right way” to make this flavorful dressing and sauce, but I argue that using what you have (or what’s available!) is always the best route. I’ve made this gorgeous sauce using herbs that are most certainly not in the classic recipe, and guess what? It still turned out great.
How To Make Green Goddess Salmon
My version of Green Goddess sauce includes the following ingredients:
- Mayonnaise
- Parsley
- Tarragon (a must, regardless of what other herbs you use in my opinion!)
- Chives
- Oregano
- Dill
- Shallot
- Garlic
- Lemon
- Worcestershire Sauce
- Anchovies
- Vinegar
- Salt and Pepper
The collection of these ingredients is blended into a beautiful green sauce. You truly won’t believe how flavorful this is! It’s all slathered onto a gorgeous filet of salmon (I trim the ends for even cooking and presentation), and roasted in the oven to perfection.

- Baking Sheet
- A very sharp knife (if trimming fish)
- Chef’s knife
- Various cutting boards – be sure to use a separate one for the fish (I have designated boards for fish and meat)
