Spicy Italian Sausage Dip

This Spicy Italian Sausage Dip is creamy, spicy and tangy. Cream cheese and sour cream are combined with Italian sausage, pepperoncini peppers, Calabrian chili, cheeses, and spices. Scoop it with crispy crostini right out of the oven!

We All Love A Dip

Is dip not the perfect appetizer? It’s always a crowd-pleaser, and there are countless directions you could go in the flavor department. This mouthwatering version includes cream cheese and sour cream as the base, along with spicy Italian sausage, tangy pepperoncini, Calabrian chili, parmesan and mozzarella cheese, and Italian spices. When I say this one is good…I mean it. Read on to learn how to make it yourself!

  • Spicy Italian Sausage
  • Cream Cheese
  • Sour Cream

How To Make Spicy Italian Sausage Dip

  • Cook the Italian sausage in a sauté pan, breaking it up in to bit sized pieces. One nearly cooked through (it’s ok if there are some uncooked pieces since this will continue cooking in the oven), use a slotted spoon to remove the sausage to a medium bowl. 
  • Add the onion and garlic to the grease left behind from the sausage. Saute until fragrant and onion is translucent .
  • In a large bowl, combine cream cheese and sour cream. Use a hand mixer to completely mix together. Add pepperoncini, Calabrian chili paste, Italian seasoning, 3/4 cup parmesan and 1 cup mozzarella. Mix to combine. Add Italian sausage, using a spatula to combine entirely.
  • Transfer to a baking dish and top with remaining mozzarella and parmesan cheese. 
  • Bake for 20 minutes in a 350 degree oven or until dip is bubbly and smells delicious. Garnish with chopped basil and serve with crostini.

Ingredients

  • 1 lb spicy Italian sausage, cooked and slightly cooled
  • 1/2 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 oz cream cheese, room temperature
  • 1 1/2 cups sour cream
  • 3/4 cup chopped pepperoncini peppers
  • 1 Tbsp Calabrian chili paste
  • 2 tsp Italian seasoning
  • 1 cup grated parmesan cheese, divided
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese, divided
  • Chopped Basil, to garnish
  • Crostini, to serve
