Prosciutto and Salami Baguette Sandwiches!

I tend to make my sandwiches very seriously. Isn’t it just the perfect meal? A delicious array of customizable ingredients, hopefully glued together with some extraordinarily flavored sauce. It’s simply my idea of perfection.

And this recipe in particular is one that I return to again and again. I originally shared this recipe in 2016 (one of the very first recipes I’ve ever shared on my website!), and I’ve made it many times since. Cured meats on a baguette is hardly an original idea, but where this sandwich really gets its chops is from the creamy, tangy, piquant spread that takes just 2 special ingredients to make.

This sandwich is a must make! Read on to learn how to make it!

How To Make This Exquisite Sandwich

There are a few components of this sandwich, resulting in a flavor-packed and portable meal:

  1. The Baguette: First and foremost, using a SOFT baguette is absolutely critical. No one needs jaw pain after eating their lunch! A fresh baked loaf from a reputable bakery will most often be your best bet.
  2. The Meats: I opt for a combination or prosciutto and salami, offering salt, fat, and two different textures. Feel free to swap in your favorite cured or deli meat!
  3. Arugula: The peppery bite that arugula provides offsets the richness from the fat in the cured meats. It brings freshness to the sandwich which can’t be beat. But, if you still think you’re not an arugula person, you can try spinach instead!
  4. The Spread: Alright, this is where things get important. The bread for this sandwich is absolutely addicting, and I would highly recommend that you make a double batch of it. It’s outstanding as a cracker or veggie dip! You combine goat cheese and pickled cherry peppers in a food processor until it;s a smooth and creamy spread. My mouth is actually watering just writing about it! It’s a tangy, salty, briny, pickled spread that is just so outstanding.
