This sweet concoction features just 3 easy ingredients:

  • Syrup: This drink was actually invented when the Torani Syrup Company started in 1925. You can choose any syrup you like in this drink, but I opt for a homemade sweet cherry version!
  • Soda Water: With so many flavored options on the market today, you can add additional flavor through your favorite sparkling water. 
  • Cream: Just a little bit is needed to add delicious creaminess.

How To Make Fresh Cherry Italian Soda

The Fresh Cherry Syrup that is used in this Italian Soda is so simple to make, and highlights peak of season sweet cherries. It’s perfect for sweetening cocktails, Italian Sodas, frosting, you name it! Here’s how to make it:

  1. Combine cherries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan. Set over medium heat.

  2. Stir every so often as the mixture heats, until the sugar is completely dissolved. 

  3. Remove from the heat and allow to steep for 30 minutes, or until cool. 

  4. Strain the mixture through a fine mesh sieve, gently pressing the cherries to extract as much liquid as possible. 

  5. Store syrup in an air-tight container for up to 1 week.

Making an Italian Soda your own is so easy: simply choose your favorite syrup flavor! Here are a few syrup options to consider, which you can find online or at your local grocery store!

  • Hazelnut
  • Chocolate
  • Vanilla

  • Blueberry

You can also omit the cream and swap in coconut milk or almond milk, if you’re looking for a dairy free option.

Ingredients

For the Fresh Cherry Syrup:

  • 2 cups fresh cherries, destemmed and pitted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 cups water

For the Italian Soda:

  • 1 oz fresh cherry syrup
  • 6-7 oz soda, feel free to use your favorite flavored variety
  • 1/2 oz heavy cream or half and half

Instructions
