How To Make Dill Pickle Snack Mix

This snack mix came to be based on one ingredient from my pantry that I’ve been dying to use: white vinegar powder! It sounds like a bizarre thing to randomly have on hand, but I purchased this powder months ago with the intent of creating this snack mix.

I absolutely LOVE pickles and anything dill pickle flavored. The classic flavor has graced snacks, beverages, and dishes of all sorts, and I knew I wanted to create a mouthwatering snack mix. To flavor the mixture, I added the following to 1 stick of melted butter:

  1. White Vinegar Powder
  2. Dried Dill
  3. Garlic Powder
  4. Onion Powder
  5. Salt

It’s all mixed together and poured over a mixture of quintessential crunchy ingredients in every delicious snack mix:

  • Chex Cereal
  • Pretzels
  • Crackers
  • Mixed Nuts

It’s baked util every morsel is covered in the savory mixture. Try not popping a few pieces into your mouth while it’s still warm!

Ways To Make Snack Mix Your Own

The beauty of any snack mix is that you truly can add whatever ingredients you have on hand. Admittedly, this recipe came to be because I had a random assortment of crunchy things in my pantry that I wanted to purge! Whether it’s crackers, pretzels, nuts, seeds, cereal, or any other crunchy snack, it all works well in a snack mix!

The key is ensuring you have enough butter to coat the mixture. Aim for having 10 cups worth of mixture for 1 stick of butter and about 3 tablespoons of seasoning. You of course can just based on your taste, but I find this ratio works well regardless of what ingredients I’m working with!

  1. What is the imperial measurement for a stick of butter? I don’t know what that means.
Also, I couldn’t find vinegar powder so tried making my own, using baking soda. Will this work?

    1. Hi Shelley! 1 stick of butter is 4 ounces (113 grams). I would not advise using baking soda, this would likely create a chemical reaction when combined with other ingredients. I would recommend omitting the vinegar powder altogether, or try adding a splash of white vinegar to the melted butter. Good luck, I hope you like the recipe!
